Far cry 2 stuck in windowed mode Patch#
There was a time when Dark messiah of Might and magic came out on steam and I was having the same issues, but then it must have been addressed in a patch because I no longer have the issues with any games I play but this one. I have been searching for the solution and tried playing in windowed mode as well as switching from windows aero to windows vista classic desktop mode as suggested by some on other forums. I have tried both Direct X 10 and 9, I have fiddled around with HDR and other video setting to see if it was a specific cause, but to no avail.

I have tried the new 180.42 and 43 beta drivers as well as the older 178.24.

I then would have to reinstall my nvidia driver to get it to play again for a short period of time. If I try to play the game it will immediately give me issues upon loading up the main menu. Windows Vista gave me a "NVLDDMKM" failed and has recovered. I really was starting to enjoy the game when about 30 minutes into the game it froze then the screen flashed blue then it went back to the frozen game and I couldn't do anything but ctrl-alt-delete and end the process via keyboard control. it's DX9 or 24hz I'm afraid.I downloaded and installed far cry 2 on Friday off of Steam. People keep saying to make custom res but it does not work over HDMI. Warhead is a fail though, the custom display res does not work over HDMI.

If it ever launches in full screen, set it to windowed, save and exit, then alt tab on startup. You cannot launch it in full screen mode and change to windowed and then alt tab, it won't work. As long as you don't change the in game option to full screen again it will launch in windowed mode and you can alt tab. This will make it work in DX11 60 frames full screen. As the game launches, alt tab to full screen. With crysis 2 you need to set the in game option to windowed mode, so it launches in a window. Just keep fraps on and as soon as you see 24fps alt tab and do it again until it's shows 60hz full screen. It takes a few times to trick the game into working at 60hz fullscreen. 3-5 times I'm not sure of the exact amount, it's been a while. DX10 mode, full screen and all that jazz. But not warhead.įor cryisis launch it as normal. I did this as a permanent solution since I don't use the onboard HDMI audio. Or, if you don't use HDMI audio, you can either add a DVI to HDMI adapter to the PC side and use the DVI port, or swap cables to a HDMI to DVI cable (DVI on pc) and it should not drop your HDTV down to 24 HZ. You can keep your HDMI to HDMI connection with video and audio this way. I think it is built into Unwinder's utility too. It just sets the registry settings for each available resolution. When I was using Nvidia (maybe later since the 6xx series looks incredible performance wise), I had the refresh rate fix applied everytime I upgraded drivers. I had to do that for my ATI setup (dropped down to 50 HZ when 60 Hz was native, so had to set scaling to 0 to remove black borders). I think there was a refresh rate fix for Nvidia drivers. One fix is to goto your video control panel, set the desktop to the resolution Crysis is picking up, and force the refresh rate back to native (50 or 60 hz). By chance are you using a HDMI to HDMI type cable? I had that problem with said cable to the HDTV.
